Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 27, 2026

This prototype Privacy Policy explains how neuranebula.com may collect, use, store, and protect information when children and adults use math games, accounts, analytics, progress reports, and donation features. It is designed to be future-proof for additional learning metrics and should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before launch.

1. Summary

We collect account information, authentication information, learning progress data, gameplay metrics, device and usage information, analytics data, and donation-related information when applicable.

We use this information to provide accounts, save progress, improve math games, show reports, maintain security, understand usage, support donations, and comply with law.

We do not knowingly sell children’s personal information. We do not use children’s learning progress for behavioral advertising.

2. Information We Collect

Account data: name, email address, password authentication handled by Firebase Authentication, account identifiers, and login status.

Child or learner data: game selections, answers, scores, attempts, accuracy, solve time, streaks, rewards, progress by skill or level, and areas for improvement.

Future learning metrics: we may add additional educational analytics such as topic mastery, response patterns, retention trends, session duration, question difficulty, learning recommendations, and teacher or parent dashboard insights.

Technical data: browser type, approximate device information, IP-derived region, pages visited, timestamps, errors, diagnostic logs, and security events.

Analytics and cookies: Google Analytics and similar tools may collect usage data through cookies, local storage, device identifiers, or comparable technologies.

Donation data: donation amount, transaction status, payment processor identifiers, and limited billing information provided by payment processors. We should not store full card numbers.

3. Children’s Privacy

Because the website is designed for math learning and may be used by children, child privacy is central to the service.

For children under 13 in the United States, COPPA may require verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from the child. For users in the EEA or UK, parental consent or another lawful basis may be required for children below the applicable digital consent age.

Parents, guardians, schools, and authorized adults may request access to, correction of, or deletion of a child’s personal information by contacting support@neuranebula.com.

We aim to collect only what is reasonably needed to provide educational gameplay, progress tracking, account security, support, analytics, and legal compliance.

If we learn that we collected personal information from a child without required consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it or obtain appropriate consent.

4. How We Use Information

To create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and protect account security.

To save gameplay progress, scores, timers, streaks, rewards, and performance reports.

To personalize practice, recommend levels or topics, and identify areas for improvement.

To analyze website performance, understand feature usage, fix errors, and improve learning experiences.

To process voluntary donations and maintain records required for payment, fraud prevention, accounting, or legal compliance.

To respond to support requests, enforce Terms, prevent abuse, and protect children and users.

5. Legal Bases for EEA and UK Users

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases may include consent, performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and, where applicable, consent from a parent, guardian, school, or authorized adult.

Legitimate interests may include service security, fraud prevention, product improvement, basic analytics, and maintaining educational progress features, balanced against the rights and interests of children and users.

6. Cookies and Analytics

We may use cookies, local storage, Firebase tools, Google Analytics, and similar technologies to keep users signed in, remember preferences, measure visits, understand gameplay flows, diagnose errors, and improve the website.

Where required by law, we will ask for cookie or analytics consent before using non-essential cookies. Browser controls may allow users to block or delete cookies, but some account features may not work correctly without necessary storage.

7. Sharing Information

We may share information with service providers that help us operate the website, including hosting, Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, analytics, email/support, security, and payment processors.

We may share information if required by law, to protect safety, to enforce our Terms, to prevent fraud or abuse, or as part of a business transfer such as merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

We do not knowingly sell children’s personal information. If future laws treat certain analytics or advertising disclosures as a "sale" or "sharing", we will provide required notices and opt-out controls.

8. Data Retention

We keep account and learning progress data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain reports, comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and support legitimate educational use.

Parents, guardians, schools, or account holders may request deletion. We may retain limited records where required for security, legal compliance, accounting, backups, or dispute resolution.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards such as Firebase security tools, access controls, authentication, and database rules. No online service can guarantee perfect security.

Users should choose strong passwords and keep login credentials private.

10. International Transfers

The website may be accessed internationally, especially from the United States and Europe. Data may be processed in countries other than the user’s country, including locations where our service providers operate.

Where required, we will rely on appropriate transfer safeguards such as contractual protections, adequacy decisions, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, withdraw consent, receive a portable copy of data, appeal a decision, or complain to a data protection authority.

California residents may have rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit sensitive personal information, and not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights, if the law applies to us.

Parents and guardians may exercise applicable rights on behalf of their child where permitted by law.

12. Schools and Teachers

If the website is used by a school, teacher, or educational organization, additional rules may apply, including school consent, student data protection agreements, FERPA-related requirements in the United States, or local education privacy laws.

Before school-wide use, schools should contact us so appropriate data protection terms can be reviewed.

13. Donations

Donation payments may be processed by third-party payment providers. We use donation information to process the transaction, prevent fraud, maintain financial records, and comply with legal obligations.

Payment providers may collect information directly under their own privacy policies.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as features, laws, or data practices change. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, parents, schools, or account holders.
